Periscope : I first heard of this app whilst listening to this episode of the Sorta Awesome podcast (This is another favorite that I will talk about it the Podcast section). The premise is that people broadcast themselves from around the world, and you can watch live. As with other social media, you can follow people and get notifications when they are broadcasting. If you are watching live, you can text questions or comments and they can respond. If you don’t catch the broadcast live, the replay is available for 24 hours. I am currently following an awesome gal from Japan who speaks perfect english. She broadcasts really interesting stuff like how to navigate the train station. I also follow a great lady from Australia who is always posting videos from beautiful beaches and iconic landmarks like the Opera House. I love to travel, so I am fascinated by these glimpses into the lives of people living around the world. Of course there are also people who just broadcast themselves sitting in front of the t.v doing nothing, so it’s a little bit of trial and error. Totally worth checking out!
waze : I am terrible with directions. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that I can’t find my way out of a brown paper bag. The app waze was made for people like me. Not only is it great for navigating, but people can add when there is an accident, a policeman, traffic, or anything else that would be useful to know while you are driving, and it will notify you as you approach. It also takes into account construction when planning your route. It is extremely accurate too, which I love. I ♥ waze!
I love Waze too🚗!
